Unattended death cleanup addresses what's left behind when a death goes undiscovered for a period of time – decomposition fluids, odor, and biohazard contamination that reach beyond just the immediate area. It's one of the more involved trauma cleanup jobs, since decomposition can affect flooring, subflooring, and even structural material depending on how long it went unnoticed.
We get these calls in Dunwoody, GA from family members, landlords, or property managers who've discovered a loved one or tenant passed away without anyone knowing for days or longer. The physical and emotional weight of this situation is significant, and our job is to take the cleanup entirely off your hands.
We begin with a full assessment, since decomposition contamination often extends further than what's visible – fluids can seep into subflooring or between walls. We remove all contaminated material, which frequently includes flooring and sometimes subfloor material in advanced cases. The space is then treated with industrial-grade disinfectants and odor neutralizers, since decomposition odor can be persistent and requires more than standard air fresheners to fully resolve. HEPA air scrubbers run throughout to clear the air of particulates.
Cost depends heavily on how long the death went unattended, since that directly affects how far contamination and odor have spread, along with the size of the space involved.
If you're facing an unattended death situation in Dunwoody, GA, call (833) 326-1718. We'll respond quickly and handle it with the respect this situation deserves.
